The Bitter Truth Official Tracklist

Introducing the official tracklist of Evanescence’s new album, “The Bitter Truth” coming out March 26, 2021! Here’s a little note from Amy below ❤️

@evanescenceofficial Yeah right was a song I started 10 years ago with our good friend Will B. Hunt (the other one! Synthesis/DTM etc). After our self titled album went in a different direction and this song was set aside, I made a promise to myself that I wasn’t going to give up on it. I knew it was worth fighting for. Perspectives shifted, lyrics got a new twist, the stars aligned and it finally clicked into place for us as a band on this record. I couldn’t have imagined it like this back then, and I’m so glad we waited for it to become what it is now. I’m so proud! Thank you Will, thank you to my ferocious band for bringing the fire and to Nick Raskulinecz for pushing us to a whole new level.

Happy release day! Also, happy pre-order day! We finally have our release date I can hardly believe it. March 26! The Bitter Truth full track list (yes, it’s official). We can’t wait for you to hear all of these!

Love,
Amy

Amy On Filming Wasted On You MUSIC VIDEO

We all just heard the new song “Wasted On You,” which is the first song release of the band’s fifth studio album The Bitter Truth. It had a lot of The Open Door vibes along with a dreamy and experimental sound to it. You can hear inspiration from Whitney Houston along with Amy’s kid album, Dream Too Much. Now, we sit in anticipation for the next few hours following the release of the Wasted On You official music video.

FILMING IN ISOLATION

Given the COVID-19 pandemic, the band still is giving us new material. Even if that means having to make an entire music video, filmed separately from each band member, in different houses, with iPhones; but perfectly encapsulating the current moods of disconnection from the world, lack of control and purposelessness felt by so many, the video finds the band members alone at their homes and with their families, biding time and trying to create in a world and for an audience that seems smaller than ever.

As Amy explains: “We were recording this music right up until we couldn’t go into the studio anymore, and finished it remotely through file sharing and phone calls. Tweaking mixes, adding background vocals, creating the video and album art all from home has been like water in the desert for me, my light in a dark time. We are still writing and have a lot more work to do on this album, but this time we wanted to release the songs individually, as we create, to live more in the moment with our fans and our music. ‘Wasted On You’ wasn’t the song we were planning to release first, but when the whole world went into indefinite lockdown and everything changed, so did the feeling and meaning of what we wanted to say right now. I didn’t write these lyrics about what we’re all now going through, but somehow that’s exactly what they are.”
